POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Full-time Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability Manager, you will oversee comprehensive environmental, health, safety, and sustainability initiatives across the organization.

Your role will focus on fostering a culture of safety and sustainability through strategic leadership and expert guidance.

You will be tasked with developing, implementing, and managing programs that promote proactive measures, utilizing prevention and mitigation strategies.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:
o Leading and supervising team members
o Managing employee coordination, including hiring, scheduling, and terminations
o Ensuring achievement of both short-term and long-term objectives
o Facilitating training and development for staff
o Maintaining effective communication with employees and various branches
o Conducting orientations for new hires
o Guaranteeing adherence to all applicable Federal, State, and local environmental health and safety regulations
o Performing investigations into accidents and conducting job safety analyses
o Overseeing employee orientation and annual safety training sessions
o Supporting District Managers with tools for ensuring compliance with required safety training
o Assisting Distribution Center and store personnel with hazardous materials compliance
o Completing necessary administrative reporting and clerical tasks
o Coordinating compliance with safety standards and assisting in policy and procedure development
o Aiding in the creation and implementation of emergency action plans and other safety protocols within the facility

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The following qualifications are essential for this role:
o Minimum age of 18 years due to job requirements
o Valid driver's license issued in the country of employment, with a clean driving record to qualify for company vehicle use
o A degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety, Public Health, Human Resources, Engineering, Construction, Law Enforcement, or a related field, OR a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in these areas, OR at least 1 year of leadership experience at Fastenal
o Strong written and verbal communication skills
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
o Knowledge of occupational safety and industry regulations
o Self-motivated, customer-focused, and driven
o Ability to lead and inspire a team
o Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills
o Capacity to learn and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
o Willingness to travel and work a flexible schedule
o Commitment to core values of ambition, innovation, integrity, and teamwork
o Physical ability to lift, slide, carry, and lower packages weighing between 25lbs-50lbs, with occasional weights up to 100lbs
o Successful completion of a required drug screening (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico, and Guam ONLY)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
o Previous experience or education in OSHA, EPA, safety, operations, sustainability, communications, environmental compliance, risk management, business, or a related field
o Relevant certifications or prior industry training (e.g., OSHA 30hr, Certified Safety Professional, Qualified Environmental Professional, Risk Management Certification, or similar education)
o Willingness to travel approximately 40% of the time while maintaining a flexible schedule
