Position Title: Senior Cloud Operations Engineer

Job Summary: The successful candidate will engage in the research, development, implementation, and maintenance of advanced DevSecOps methodologies and tools aimed at automating the integration and deployment of sophisticated cybersecurity software applications for the Department of Defense (DoD). Responsibilities include overseeing the deployment of various software baselines utilizing custom Virtual Machine (VM) and container configurations, as well as managing development, testing, and deployment operations. The role demands ensuring that the DevSecOps environment is conducive to designing, implementing, deploying, and executing automated testing while exploring innovative DevSecOps technologies. The candidate will also be responsible for integrating new technologies and processes into the corporate DevSecOps framework, facilitating smooth transitions between projects and programs. Furthermore, the role involves collecting, processing, and presenting various metrics related to build, network, security, and performance to demonstrate automation enhancements or regressions over time. Additionally, the candidate will oversee the migration of legacy DevOps/IA/IT capabilities to contemporary systems without compromising project history or documentation. Balancing hybrid cloud distributions between private corporate infrastructure and public cloud services is also a key responsibility. The candidate will provide support for business development and proposal initiatives leveraging their DevSecOps expertise and must demonstrate the ability to work autonomously while transitioning between programs for both temporary and permanent support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of tasks related to DevSecOps functions, including authoring and maintaining automation deployment and monitoring scripts, developing and managing security controls and systems, and overseeing virtualized assets.
  • Author and maintain scripts across multiple programming languages, ensuring that all work products are configuration managed.
  • Analyze real-world challenges and implement solutions in accordance with corporate guidelines, DoD DevSecOps directives, and industry best practices.
  • Ensure system stability, accessibility, and proper configuration of assigned technical systems and components.

Desired Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, maintain, install, and support both networked virtual and physical machines, software applications, security controls, and peripheral equipment, providing professional-level IT support.
  • Assist software developers, integration, and testing engineers.
  • Maintain a laboratory environment adhering to cybersecurity policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot to diagnose system issues, analyze hardware and software functionality, and document performance records and results.
  • Audit, document, present, and archive cybersecurity information while tracking problems/issues through an IT ticketing system.
  • Review and update all information security management system processes and procedures.
  • Support periodic scanning of lab machines as required by relevant frameworks, reviewing and mitigating findings such as anti-virus updates.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in implementing DevSecOps, DevOps, or IT/Security automation across multiple teams.
  • Knowledge of cloud vendor best practices and the ability to implement them effectively.
  • Experience with private and hybrid cloud design, operation, monitoring, and deployment.
  • Proficiency in managing Java enterprise web services and using scripting languages for automation and administration.
  • Ability to manage, version control, and back up various scripts and work products.
  • Design and execute real-world representative systems and automated functional and performance tests.
  • Respond professionally and efficiently to service requests while prioritizing multiple tasks and projects.
  • Lead small projects to research and implement new technologies.
  • Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills, capable of conveying system-wide performance information clearly.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science or information technology from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant work experience is preferred.
  • Certifications in relevant fields are advantageous.

Other Requirements: This position requires U.S. Citizenship status and a TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance as mandated by government contract specifications.
