Position Summary:
Cole Engineering Services, Inc. is in search of dynamic individuals to contribute to a team focused on orchestrating, automating, documenting, and standardizing data center architectures and implementations. The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Facilitating the comprehensive deployment of hardware and software solutions within Department of Defense data centers.
- Assisting in the design, installation, and management of a distributed data center for the U.S. Army.
- Employing Infrastructure as Code methodologies to streamline the deployment of the overall system and support DevOps activities for application software.
- Collaborating within a fast-paced, diverse team across multiple concurrent projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute various tasks related to the implementation of distributed services, network design, and configuration management within both Software Defined Networking (SDN) and physical environments, including the installation and management of ESXi hosts and vCenter across multiple data centers.
- Develop and maintain scripts across a variety of programming languages.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Linux system administration and possess a working knowledge of Red Hat enterprise solutions such as OpenShift, Ansible Tower, and Single Sign-On.
- Analyze real-world challenges and devise solutions in alignment with corporate policies and industry best practices.
- Ensure system stability, accessibility, and proper configuration of assigned technical systems and components.
- Oversee the monitoring, maintenance, installation, and support of networked virtual and physical machines, software applications, and peripheral devices in a large-scale environment.
- Provide professional-level IT support, virtual environment management, and network assistance, while aiding software developers, integration, and testing engineers with DevOps functions.
- Exhibit self-motivation in a dynamic environment and effectively manage a diverse group of engineers with varying skill sets and experience levels.
- Be adaptable and responsive to the needs and requirements of clients.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining a data center environment in compliance with information assurance policies and procedures.
- Implement software-centric DevOps practices within large-scale data center settings.
- Evaluate hardware and software performance for optimal operation and enhancement.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues within the scope of authority.
- Document and present performance metrics and outcomes.
- Record problems and issues through an IT ticketing system or tracking log.
- Review and update all processes and procedures related to information security management systems (data/software).
Required Qualifications:
- Expertise in implementing cloud vendor best practices, particularly in environments primarily utilizing Linux, VMware, OpenShift, and the Red Hat suite of enterprise products.
- Experience in the design, operation, monitoring, and deployment of private and hybrid cloud solutions, including:
- VMware vCenter and ESXi, maintained at the latest versions.
- Familiarity with VMware Orchestrator for automating the deployment and management of virtual machines, networks, and other virtualized assets.
- Knowledge of Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform, including Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) On-Prem, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Proficiency in scripting languages for automation, administration, data collection, and reporting, with the ability to write, test, debug, deploy, and maintain scripts.
- Capability to manage configurations, version control, and backup various scripts and work products created for environmental maintenance.
- Conduct audits and report on system and performance logs.
- Respond to service requests in a professional and efficient manner.
- Prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands effectively.
- Research and implement new technologies as needed.
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to convey system-wide performance information through tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio.
- Train others in similar design and administrative tasks.
- Engage with vendors, users, customers, and developers to understand operational requirements and changes impacting development and testing activities.
Desired Qualifications:
- A solid understanding of TCP/IP, switching and routing technologies, IP (IPv4 & IPv6, NAT, ACLs, DNS, DHCP), multicast protocols (PIM SM/DM/SSM), and Quality of Service (QoS).
- Familiarity with F5 / BIG IP physical and virtual network devices.
Education and Experience:
A minimum of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science or information technology from an accredited institution, along with five years of relevant work experience. Security+ and/or CISSP certifications are required or must be obtained within four months of hire.
Other Requirements:
This position requires U.S. Citizenship and a secret security clearance, with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance as specified in the Government's Task Order.
