Cloud Infrastructure Reliability Engineer

*12-month contract with potential to extend/convert*

Hybrid: 2x a week onsite

Optomi, in collaboration with a leading client in the entertainment sector, is in search of a seasoned Cloud Infrastructure Reliability Engineer to enhance their operations in a hybrid capacity. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced, energetic, and cooperative atmosphere. In this role, responsibilities will include:

  • Actively collaborating with development and quality assurance teams, as well as product and project managers.
  • Leading initiatives in project planning, architectural assessments, and design, while participating in discussions with diverse teams.
  • Provisioning, fine-tuning, and automating systems and applications, while providing administration, maintenance, and support.

Essential Technical Skills:

  • Cloud Platforms: AWS (Fargate, ECS, Lambdas, API Gateways, EC2, S3, ALB/ELB, ElastiCache, EKS, KMS-Secret Manager, VPCs, IAM), Google Cloud Platform (App Engine, Kubernetes, Cloud Functions, Firebase, IAM)
  • Infrastructure Automation: Terraform, Rundeck, Chef, Ansible, Vault
  • Monitoring Tools: CloudWatch, Splunk, AppDynamics, Grafana
  • Messaging Systems: RabbitMQ, PubSub
  • Load Balancing Technologies
  • Programming Languages: Go, Python, Java (Spring MVC)

Experience and Expertise:

  • Robust technical foundation in consumer and employee-facing enterprise systems
  • Proficient in diagnosing applications and systems
  • Skilled in managing web, caching, and queuing technologies in high-demand environments
  • Adept at designing scalable and highly available systems
  • Experienced with public cloud services (AWS, Google GCP, Azure)
  • Familiar with containerization and programming languages
  • Knowledgeable in distributed version control systems (e.g., GIT) and CI/CD methodologies
  • Capable of supporting both SQL and NoSQL databases

Communication and Leadership Abilities:

  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical personnel
  • Clear communicator in high-pressure scenarios to all levels of stakeholders
  • Representative in incidents involving various business units
  • Experienced in troubleshooting during on-call situations with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Proficient in technical processes, incident response, and change management
  • Knowledgeable in compliance and vulnerability management
  • Adept at collecting and articulating forensic details for root cause analysis
  • Self-motivated individual who can lead project planning efforts and architectural design

Mentorship and Task Management:

  • Guide fellow Systems Engineers in prioritizing workloads, addressing technical challenges, and collaborating on effective solutions
  • Manage multiple projects from inception to completion
  • Responsible for breaking down tasks to achieve project goals and ensuring timely resolution of tickets and tasks
