Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our team. This role involves working on an initial project with a smaller code base, focusing on ensuring the stability of our Snowflake infrastructure before integrating it into our main data platform.

Project Duration

The engagement is expected to last for several months, during which you will play a crucial role in enhancing our backend Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in Scrum and cross-team meetings to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Engage in sprint ceremonies to facilitate project progress.
  • Dedicate 80-90% of your time to hands-on development work.
  • Balance your efforts between development (60%) and operational tasks (40%).
  • Design and implement robust, high-throughput, low-latency, scalable, and well-documented code to address complex algorithms and build cloud infrastructure components.
  • Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to propose enhancements across teams.
  • Detail the low-level implementation aspects of software, including data structures and code organization.
  • Recommend technical implementation strategies that support architectural modifications to resolve scaling and performance challenges.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to reuse or generalize existing services and implementations.
  • Stay updated on the latest technologies and best practices in data management and software engineering.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to fellow team members.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews of pull requests to maintain high standards.

Work Environment

This position requires in-person collaboration two days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely for the remaining three days.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in software development and DevOps methodologies, including CI/CD, Docker, testing, and automation.
  • Proficiency with Terraform and Snowflake.
  • Background as a Software Engineer or DevOps Engineer.
  • 5-7 years of experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Snowflake.
  • Strong programming skills in Python (TypeScript is a comparable alternative).
  • Experience with deployment pipelines, preferably using GitHub.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, ideally AWS (GCP is also acceptable).
