Job Overview

BB Living is in search of a Senior Property Accountant to enhance the accounting team within a rapidly expanding organization in the single-family "Build to Rent" sector. This role is pivotal in managing financial records and reports for property management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee third-party property management accountants during the month-end closing process.
  • Evaluate monthly reporting packages for multiple properties, ensuring accuracy in financial statements and bank reconciliations.
  • Scrutinize journal entries to confirm the completeness and accuracy of general ledger activities.
  • Collaborate with property accountants to project cash flow and recommend monthly distributions.
  • Conduct monthly profit and loss variance analysis and communicate findings to management.
  • Perform in-depth monthly expense analysis.
  • Work alongside property managers and regional leadership to guarantee timely and precise financial reporting.
  • Partner with property managers to develop remediation strategies for budget discrepancies.
  • Ensure timely provision of information for annual audits.
  • Engage with the investment management team during the annual budgeting cycle.
  • Document policies and procedures related to property management accounting and corporate accounting processes.
  • Assist in onboarding new properties with property management companies and asset management teams.
  • Supervise property tax payments and manage the appeals process for the portfolio.
  • Address information requests from management efficiently.
  • Support month-end closing activities as directed by the corporate Senior Accountant.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in property accounting.
  • Familiarity with property management software such as Real Page or Yardi is highly advantageous.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and effective time management skills.
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
