Overview:


The Technical Support Specialist is tasked with providing daily operational assistance to the end-user community through the setup, configuration, enhancement, and upkeep of workstation and peripheral devices.

This role encompasses addressing issues reported by the Customer Support Center and facilitating the introduction of new functionalities. Maintaining documentation and adhering to the organization's policies, procedures, and standards is a critical aspect of this position. The Technical Support Specialist is dedicated to delivering high-quality, cost-efficient solutions to users at all levels. This includes support for both technological and procedural aspects.

The Technical Support Specialist also plays a vital role in aligning with the business objectives and goals of the Department, the Information Services Organization, and the organization at large.

Key Responsibilities:

Problem Resolution – Efficiently evaluate, diagnose, and rectify basic configuration and hardware issues. Promptly resolve problems assigned by the Customer Support Center. Assess the overall performance of workstations and implement standard maintenance protocols to enhance performance.
Software Management – Under supervision, install, configure, and maintain operating system software on client workstations. Provide assistance on fundamental features of application software, including initiation, login, navigation, and termination. Understand a subset of the total configurations within the organization.

Install, configure, and maintain various workstation operating systems, including DOS, Windows v3.11, Windows 95, Windows 98, NetWare, Windows NT, and Windows 2000.

Install and manage software images that aid in the administration of client workstations.
Hardware Management – With guidance, install, configure, and maintain hardware for client workstations. Client hardware encompasses components such as processors, memory, hard drives, modems, video cards, monitors, peripherals, and CD-ROM drives. Possess the expertise and knowledge in client workstation technology to support configurations within the organization.

Network Administration - With supervision, manage services, and restart operating system software on Windows NT, 2000, and Novell servers.

Telecommunications Support – With oversight, assist in the maintenance and support of telecommunication systems, ensuring dial-tone availability at the desktop.

Desktop Hardware and Software – With direction, install, configure, and maintain hardware and software.
Communication Skills - Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Inventory Oversight – Track and document hardware and software inventory.
Standards Compliance – Install, configure, and uphold standards related to workstation and peripheral procedures and documentation.
Policy Adherence – Follow established policies, procedures, and standards set forth by the department.
Vendor Coordination – Liaise with vendors regarding service issues to obtain support information or assistance as directed by the supervisor.
Documentation – Create and maintain technical documentation for the assigned systems.
Reporting – Generate required departmental reports associated with projects assigned by management and issues assigned through help desk queues. Documentation includes current status and problem documentation summaries within the problem management system.
Project Coordination - With supervision, prioritize tasks, comprehend business applications, address technical inquiries, and execute all assigned responsibilities. Serve as a resource to the project team for designated client applications.
Team Collaboration – Foster and demonstrate effective teamwork on assigned projects through actions and job performance.
Customer Engagement - Deliver exceptional customer service by being courteous, polite, and friendly at all times. Acknowledge customers promptly to assess their needs and assist in resolving issues or requests. Participate in departmental initiatives that promote and deliver outstanding customer service.
Additional Duties – Undertake other responsibilities and special projects as assigned by the Market Operations Manager.
