Logistics Operations Specialist Job Description

Position Overview

This role is essential in facilitating customer interactions and managing inventory flow. The selected candidate will be responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing materials, tools, equipment, and products within the logistics facility, ensuring precision and promptness in all operational tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the inbound and outbound logistics processes, including unloading shipments, verifying merchandise, and aligning purchase orders with sales orders for distribution to team members.
  • Interpret customer requests, work orders, shipping instructions, or requisitions to identify items to be relocated, collected, or dispatched.
  • Transport materials and products from receiving or storage zones to shipping areas or other specified locations.
  • Organize and categorize materials or products on shelves, racks, or bins according to established criteria such as vendor, size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Process requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and allocate them to shipping or designated storage areas.
  • Maintain a safe and accessible warehouse environment for staff and customer traffic.
  • Compile customer orders from inventory and position them on pallets or shelves, or transfer them to a holding area or shipping department.
  • Label materials with identifying information using appropriate methods.
  • Open packages, crates, and other containers as necessary.
  • Document quantities of materials or items received or distributed using the designated computer system.
  • Assist in conducting accurate physical inventory counts.
  • Weigh and count items for distribution within the facility to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • May perform facility maintenance tasks as required.
  • Complete requisition forms to procure supplies from other departments.
  • Prepare parcels for shipping in accordance with local, federal, and international regulations.
  • Keep the warehouse and work area clean and organized at all times.
  • Utilize appropriate safety equipment as required.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in an industrial or retail logistics environment.
  • Prior experience in shipping and receiving is preferred.
  • Familiarity with warehouse management software is advantageous.

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. This role is highly active and necessitates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing throughout the workday. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items weighing over 50 pounds.
  • The work environment is an open-air logistics facility where temperatures may be equal to or exceed outside ambient conditions.
  • Daily tasks require effective use of a computer system and face-to-face communication to exchange information with both internal and external stakeholders.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, direct hire position. Overtime or weekend hours may be necessary.
