Job Summary

The Boston Public Schools is seeking a skilled School Nurse to join our team at East Boston EEC. As a School Nurse, you will provide high-quality nursing care and support to students, staff, and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide skilled nursing care and management of students' special needs
  • Administer and supervise medication administration to students
  • Counsel and educate students on medical issues
  • Conduct formal and informal evaluations of medical conditions and develop accurate medical summaries
  • Teach mini-courses on medical and health-related topics
  • Monitor and assess compliance with immunization standards
  • Perform vision, hearing, scoliosis, dental, and other health-related screenings
  • Develop and maintain contacts with medical professionals and facilities
  • Participate in Service Team Meetings and provide medical input and consultation
  • Establish and maintain accurate record-keeping and reporting formats
  • Conduct workshops and training for staff as needed

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Massachusetts license as a Registered Nurse
  • MA State Dept. of Education School Nurse License (All Levels)
  • CPR & First Aid Certification
  • Ability to meet the BPS Standards of Effective Practice
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in public school/agency/human services setting
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in support services in a school setting
  • Liaison and case management experience
  • Experience working with high-risk, multi-problem children and adolescents
