Job Summary

The Boston Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Newcomer Services Coordinator to join our team. This role will play a critical part in supporting the district's efforts to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for newly arrived families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with BPS departments to ensure a smooth onboarding process for new students and their families.
  • Liaise with central office and school leads to identify and address the needs of newly arrived students and their families.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support the integration of newcomer students into the school community.
  • Provide onsite support to assist newcomer students and families with access to community resources, referrals, and related services.
  • Develop and manage mini grants to support schools in implementing programs and services for newcomer students.
Requirements
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including students, families, and school staff.
  • Knowledge of state and local strategies to support newcomer families.
  • Experience in project development and implementation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with newcomer families and students.
  • Knowledge of Boston Public Schools policies and procedures.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages.
