Job Summary

Lakeland University is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Women's Soccer Assistant Coach to join our team. As a key member of our coaching staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the head coach in all aspects of the women's soccer program.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the head coach in student recruitment and retention, coaching student athletes, and fostering their skill development.
  • Assist in coaching plans and implementation at practices and competitions, ensuring the safety, health, and wellbeing of student athletes.
  • Comply with NCAA, UMAC, and university policies, including recruiting activities, student-athlete eligibility determination, scholarships, and financial aid programs.
  • Supervise team managers and graduate assistants, assigning day-to-day team responsibilities on road trips.
  • Reduce the likelihood of sports-related injuries by being knowledgeable of prevention methods, supervising pre-training session and pre-contest preparations, and referring injured student-athletes to qualified sports medicine personnel or athletic trainers.
  • Support established athletic fund-raising goals by participating in fund-raising events and promotional activities for intercollegiate athletics.
  • Promote a positive image of the intercollegiate athletics program and the University through community and professional organizations, representing the University at professional meetings, and maintaining credible relations with various news media.
  • Foster an environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the head coach.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • At least two years of experience in coaching at the intercollegiate level, or extensive player experience at the collegiate level can be substituted for the coaching experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations governing recruitment, eligibility, and related functions.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, effectively manage time and priorities, and prioritize office workflow and make effective administrative decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to tactfully and effectively communicate with a variety of individuals, possess strong critical thinking skills, and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office or similar products.
  • Demonstrates organizational ability, attention to detail, and accuracy, and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to work evenings or weekends as needed.
Work Environment

The work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Moderate physical activity is required, including handling average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
