Job Description

Position Summary:

The Patient Service Representative - Specialty Scheduler plays a critical role in the daily operations of our specialty department, providing administrative support and complex scheduling duties to ensure seamless patient care. This highly motivated individual will work closely with our patient population to deliver a positive experience, while maintaining efficient operations and prioritizing patient satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Front Desk Operations: Greet patients, families, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner, directing them to the appropriate area.
  • Registration and Scheduling: Maintain an efficient patient flow through the registration process, providing excellent customer service and ensuring accurate and timely scheduling of appointments.
  • Communication and Coordination: Communicate proactively with colleagues, physicians, and patients regarding registration-related information, ensuring seamless coordination of care.
  • Financial Transactions: Process payments, reconcile daily collections, and prepare deposits, maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Electronic Health Records (EHR): Update patient information, schedule internal procedures and visits, and initiate authorization requests, ensuring compliance with departmental guidelines.
  • Diagnostic Testing and Procedures: Schedule and enter orders for diagnostic tests and procedures, confirming completion and ensuring prior authorization is in place.
  • Patient Portal Enrollment: Effectively communicate with patients to enroll them in our patient portal, ensuring they have access to their medical information and test results.
  • Problem-Solving and Communication: Identify and communicate problems, concerns, or issues to the Department Supervisor or Manager, ensuring prompt resolution and maintaining a positive patient experience.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School Graduate or GED required; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Experience: Previous PSR experience preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent customer service skills, ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, and basic proficiency in computer use.
  • Knowledge: Medical office terminology and procedures, EHR systems, and practice management systems.
