Job Overview

We are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to become a key member of our organization. Reporting directly to the Engineering Group Manager (EGM), the selected individual will take charge of planning, designing, and supervising civil engineering initiatives. The ideal candidate will hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license and possess a solid history in leadership roles, strategic project oversight, and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Project Oversight: Serve as the Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer for various clients, overseeing multiple projects to ensure timely delivery and profitability. Review project plans and specifications to confirm alignment with project scope requirements. Generate reports, specifications, plans, construction timelines, environmental assessments, and designs for projects.
  2. Resource Management: Develop forecasts for the workload of assigned personnel. Manage contract administration and oversee work-in-progress. Ensure precise client billing and monitor outstanding accounts receivable and collection efforts on projects.
  3. Client Development: Collaborate with the EGM and others on pricing, estimating, scoping, and marketing strategies for upcoming projects. Formulate and advocate viable design strategies for clients concerning cost and regulatory compliance.
  4. Client Engagement: Actively seek new clients and maintain regular interaction with existing clients during meetings. Collaborate with management on the firm's marketing strategies.
  5. Team Leadership: Partner with the EGM in managing team members. Evaluate the work of junior engineers and provide guidance, mentoring, and training. Foster professional growth, solicit and implement client feedback, manage workloads, enhance quality focus, improve processes, and communicate effectively.
  6. CAD Oversight: Supervise CAD applications for design tasks. Produce comprehensive, final design plans in accordance with cost and regulatory compliance standards. Direct the efforts of CAD designers and other technical staff.
  7. Data Management: Oversee project files and associated project data.
  8. Site Inspections: Conduct site visits to assess progress and fulfill other contractual obligations.
  9. Effective Communication: Collaborate efficiently with clients, colleagues, and others by sharing ideas constructively; listening to and objectively considering input from others; honoring commitments; and keeping stakeholders informed of progress and challenges to achieve mutually beneficial solutions.
  10. Safety Standards: Uphold a commitment to safety standards and adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participate in staff meetings and engage in corporate activities.
  • Take initiative for personal professional development.
  • Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  2. Five to seven years of progressive experience in project and personnel management.
  3. Proficient in CAD software applications.
  4. Possession of a Professional Engineer license.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Ability to mentor junior-level staff.
  2. Capability to establish internal and external contacts related to departmental functions.
  3. Skill in marketing to new clients and securing projects for the firm, requiring a well-developed sense of timing and strategy.
