Job Overview

We are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to take on a pivotal role within our organization. Reporting directly to the Engineering Group Manager (EGM), the selected candidate will be tasked with the planning, design, and oversight of various civil engineering initiatives. The ideal applicant will hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license and possess extensive experience in leadership roles, strategic project oversight, and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Project Oversight: Serve as the Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer for clients, overseeing multiple projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget. Review plans and specifications to confirm they meet project scope requirements. Generate reports, specifications, plans, construction timelines, environmental assessments, and designs for projects.
  2. Resource Management: Prepare forecasts for the workload of assigned personnel. Oversee contract administration and manage work-in-progress. Ensure accurate client invoicing and monitor outstanding accounts receivable and collection efforts on projects.
  3. Business Growth: Collaborate with the EGM and others in pricing, estimating, scoping, and marketing strategies for new projects. Develop and advocate feasible design strategies for clients concerning cost and regulatory compliance.
  4. Client Engagement: Actively seek new clients and maintain regular interactions with existing clients during meetings. Collaborate with management on the firm's marketing strategies.
  5. Team Development: Assist the EGM in managing team members. Review the work of junior engineers, providing support, mentorship, and training. Foster professional growth, solicit and apply client feedback, manage workloads, enhance quality focus, improve processes, and communicate effectively.
  6. CAD Oversight: Manage CAD applications for design work. Produce detailed, final design plans that adhere to cost and regulatory compliance. Direct the efforts of CAD designers and other technical staff.
  7. Data Management: Oversee project files and other relevant project data.
  8. Site Inspections: Conduct site visits to monitor project progress and fulfill other duties as outlined in the contract documents.
  9. Effective Communication: Collaborate effectively with clients, colleagues, and others by sharing ideas constructively; listening to and objectively considering suggestions from others; keeping commitments; and keeping others informed of work progress and issues to find mutually acceptable solutions.
  10. Safety Standards: Uphold a commitment to safety standards and comply with all safety regulations and company policies.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participate in staff meetings and engage in corporate activities.
  • Take initiative for personal professional development.
  • Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  2. Five to seven years of progressive experience in project and personnel management.
  3. Proficient in CAD software.
  4. Possession of a Professional Engineer license.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Ability to mentor junior-level staff.
  2. Capability to establish internal and external contacts related to the department or function.
  3. Skill in marketing to new clients and securing projects for the firm, requiring a well-developed sense of timing and strategy.
