Position Overview
*Candidates must be available for on-call duties and possess surgical experience.*
Clinical Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive physical assessments, including pre-operative and post-operative evaluations, while documenting findings accurately.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as x-rays, MRIs, CT scans, and laboratory studies.
- Formulate diagnoses, develop treatment plans, and implement necessary ancillary services, as well as order additional diagnostic studies or lab evaluations.
- Assist in surgical procedures and provide on-call coverage as needed.
- Manage all pre-operative and post-operative documentation related to surgical procedures.
- Collaborate with specialists and interventional physicians based on the diagnosis and severity of cases.
- Support the reduction of fractures and dislocations.
- Provide minor surgical care in the office setting, including suturing.
- Remove sutures or staples, change dressings, and administer injections as required.
- Administer injections, oral medications, joint aspirations, and perform other clinical procedures.
- Prepare and authorize written prescriptions for medications and controlled substances.
- Assist physicians in fitting and measuring specialized orthopedic devices.
- Educate patients and their representatives on medication usage and treatment protocols, including the use of assistive devices.
- Document patient progress notes and transcribe physician orders.
- Triage patient inquiries via telephone, providing consultations and educational support.
- Ensure continuity of care and monitoring for patients.
- Conduct independent evaluations and treatment in emergency situations.
- Perform peer evaluations for procedure authorizations.
- Assist in the management of patients through direct care.
- Provide necessary documentation and coding information for all healthcare services rendered.
- Participate in required meetings and contribute to committees as needed.
- Engage in professional development activities and maintain relevant professional affiliations.
- Uphold patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program (Required)
- 2-3 years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in an orthopedic setting with surgical experience (Required)
- Licensure in the State of Texas is mandatory.
- Exceptional customer service abilities.
- Proven conflict resolution skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Operating room experience is preferred.
