Job Summary

The Supervisor of Imaging Services is accountable for overseeing the delivery and quality of imaging services in compliance with established standards, policies, and procedures. This role performs department orientation, teaches, coaches, and supervises staff, ensuring adequate staffing levels, supplies, and resources are available to meet clinical demands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the delivery and quality of imaging services, ensuring timely and accurate completion of exams.
  • Perform procedures as needed due to workload or complexity, ensuring high-quality results.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels, supplies, and resources are available to meet clinical demands.
  • Schedule, monitor, evaluate, and modify staffing patterns to provide services in assigned areas.
  • Interview, counsel, and complete performance evaluations for staff members.
  • Train new staff and ensure all registrations and certifications are current, on file, and up to date.
  • Partner with the management team and staff to conduct multidisciplinary staff meetings to ensure consistent and timely communication throughout the department.
  • Facilitate goal setting for staff working in the imaging sections, monitoring goals, achievements, and ensuring the outcome of goals is reflected in annual performance evaluations.
  • Encourage employees to participate in Employee Satisfaction Surveys, Patient Safety surveys, and other activities providing service feedback results to staff, initiating a plan of action related to areas of improvement.
  • Partner with Management to develop a budget for the department, including providing feedback on new and replacement equipment and services needed for continued growth, monitoring operational budgets, and implementing corrective action plans for negative productivity and operating expense variances.
  • Promote a culture of service excellence in the imaging sections by partnering with management to communicate service excellence and patient-centeredness expectations, and customer satisfaction survey results.
  • Hold self and staff accountable for service excellence in their areas of responsibility, and facilitate reward and recognition in the imaging sections of Radiology.
  • Act as a Radiology liaison to other departments, developing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with physicians and other medical departments to gather and exchange information, develop and implement solutions to problems.
  • Assist in developing, reviewing, revising, submitting, and implementing policies, procedures, and goals that help Department and System goals.
  • Assist in ensuring the imaging sections are compliant with The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), the Texas Department of Health (TDH) standards, and other accrediting bodies.
  • Identify patient service requirements by utilizing AIDET when communicating with patients to ensure they perform the correct exam on the correct patient, establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to know about the service requirements.
  • Coordinate and run groups focusing on patient safety, customer service, performance improvement, environment of Care, Employee Engagement, Physician Engagement, Quality Improvement, Inter-Departmental Relations, etc.
  • Participate in shared governance, department, hospital, or professional organizations and committees, including LEAN initiatives, 5S projects, inter-departmental committees, or any professional organization participation, QC assurance with radiologist, etc.
