Job Overview

Position Summary: The Physician Assistant will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care in an orthopaedic setting, including surgical assistance and patient management.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough physical examinations and evaluate patients pre-operatively and post-operatively.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as x-rays, MRIs, and lab studies.
  • Formulate diagnoses and develop treatment plans, ensuring appropriate follow-up care.
  • Assist in surgical procedures and be available for on-call duties as needed.
  • Manage all surgical documentation and related administrative tasks.
  • Collaborate with specialists to optimize patient care based on individual diagnoses.
  • Provide care for fractures and dislocations, including minor surgical interventions.
  • Administer injections, perform wound care, and manage patient medications.
  • Educate patients and their families on treatment plans and the use of medical devices.
  • Document patient progress and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Respond to patient inquiries and provide guidance on health-related issues.
  • Ensure continuity of care through effective monitoring and follow-up.
  • Conduct evaluations and treatment in emergency situations as necessary.
  • Participate in peer evaluations for procedure authorizations.
  • Assist in direct patient care management.

Administrative Duties:

  • Prepare and maintain documentation for healthcare services rendered.
  • Engage in required meetings and contribute to departmental committees.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain relevant certifications.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program (Mandatory)
  • 2-3 years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in an orthopaedic environment with surgical exposure (Mandatory)
  • Licensure in the State of Texas is required.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities.
  • Proven skills in conflict resolution.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational capabilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience in an operating room setting is preferred.
