Job Overview

Position Summary: The Physician Assistant will be responsible for providing comprehensive care in an orthopaedic setting, including surgical assistance and patient management.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough physical examinations and document findings accurately.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as x-rays, MRIs, and lab work.
  • Formulate diagnoses and develop treatment plans, ensuring appropriate follow-up.
  • Assist in surgical procedures and be available for on-call duties as needed.
  • Manage all surgical documentation and related paperwork efficiently.
  • Collaborate with specialists and interventional physicians based on patient needs.
  • Provide care for fractures and dislocations, including reduction procedures.
  • Perform minor surgical tasks such as suturing and dressing changes.
  • Administer injections and other clinic procedures as required.
  • Prepare and authorize prescriptions for medications and controlled substances.
  • Assist in fitting and measuring orthopedic devices for patients.
  • Educate patients and their families on treatment plans and device usage.
  • Document patient progress and transcribe physician orders accurately.
  • Handle patient inquiries and provide necessary consultations.
  • Ensure continuity of care and monitor patient progress.
  • Conduct independent evaluations in emergency situations.
  • Perform peer evaluations for procedure authorizations.
  • Support direct patient care management.

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate documentation and coding for healthcare services.
  • Participate in meetings and contribute to committee work as needed.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain relevant affiliations.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program (Mandatory)
  • 2-3 years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in an orthopaedic environment with surgical exposure (Mandatory)
  • Licensure in the State of Texas is required.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities.
  • Proven conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Preferred experience in an operating room setting.
