Job Title: Campus Housing Manager

LeMoyne-Owen College seeks a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as Campus Housing Manager. This is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Dean of Students.

Job Summary

The Campus Housing Manager is responsible for providing overall management and leadership in residential building(s). This includes staff supervision and development, residential education, community development, crisis management, administration and building management, student conduct, hall council advising, summer operations, and other departmental responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Staff Supervision and Development:
    • Select, train, and supervise staff in their building(s)/areas
    • Assist in planning and conducting a departmental orientation and training workshop prior to each semester
    • Provide for each Resident Advisor's individual development through periodic performance reviews
    • Facilitate on-going team building and staff development opportunities
    • Assist in the development of techniques for evaluating Resident Advisor programs
  • Residential Education:
    • Plan and implement educational, cultural, and academic activities designed to meet the diverse developmental needs of students
    • Conduct formal and informal assessments to determine the needs of residents
    • Provide leadership to any lifestyle programs that are housed in their building(s)/areas
  • Community Development:
    • Work with Resident Assistants staff in the development of activities designed to develop connections between residents
    • Use creative and innovative methods to personally connect to residents
    • Provide informal counseling and referral to individual students
    • Provide counseling support to Resident Advisors in working through student problems and concerns
    • Coordinate the department's response to roommate conflicts and other resident concerns
    • Eat meals in the student dining facilities to increase visibility and connection opportunities with students
  • Crisis Management:
    • Participate in year-round duty rotation to provide support to the residential population
    • Work closely with the Counseling and Teaching Learning Centers
    • Maintain awareness of campus and community resources
  • Administration and Building Management:
    • Provide hands-on leadership during the openings and closings of the residence halls
    • Participate in regular building tours and conduct Health and Safety Inspections
    • Coordinate the program budgets for the staff and hall council accounts
    • Manage the occupancy and assignment procedures and records
    • Coordinate damage accountability and billing process
    • Ensure the proper management of keys (student room, common area, and staff/office keys)
    • Build relationships with housekeeping, zone maintenance, security guards to assure that physical environment is maintained at optimum levels
  • Student Conduct:
    • Manage student conduct cases (student meetings, delivery and tracking of sanctions, etc.)
    • Refer cases to the college's student conduct system in a timely fashion
  • Departmental Responsibilities:
    • Serve on departmental committees (RA Selection, RA Training, etc.)
    • Participate in Summer and Fall Orientation
    • Assist with divisional projects
    • Co-advise the Resident Students Association as assigned
    • Assist with the planning of campus-wide educational and social activities

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position that requires a bachelor's degree and experience working with diverse student groups, preferably in a college residence hall environment. The successful candidate will possess excellent data management skills, good working knowledge of MS Word and Excel, high energy, creativity, and flexibility. The ability to develop strong professional interpersonal communications skills, maintain confidentiality, and work independently and establish priorities is also essential.
