Job Title: Short Term Housing Specialist

Friends For All is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Short Term Housing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Housing department, you will play a vital role in providing support to individuals in need of temporary housing assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate applicants to determine their eligibility for Short Term Housing assistance
  • Determine eligibility of persons applying for Short Term Housing funds in accordance with HUD guidelines
  • Provide information regarding the Short Term Housing application and referral process to walk-ins
  • Network with agencies in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas to get referrals and advertise the availability for the Short Term Housing program
  • Secure and refer participants to appropriate supportive services, both internal and external
  • Participate in all trainings and meetings as necessary and assigned
  • Enter subsidy amounts in CAREware within 24 hours of processing the referral
  • Submit quarterly reports by the 5th day of each program quarter
  • Type and mail approval and or denial letters within 5 days of receipt of new application

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a health or human services related discipline preferred, not required
  • Two years of full-time professional case management in a public service agency
  • Experience working with persons with HIV/AIDS preferred
  • Good strategic/critical thinker, self-starter, goal-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • Ability to operate with purpose, urgency, and accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work with a diverse client population
  • Strong relationship-builder both with team and clients (internal and external)
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Computer skills:

  • Ability to efficiently navigate the Internet and input data into applicable systems
  • Familiarity with MS Office 365, especially Outlook and SharePoint, Adobe, TEAMS, and Zoom
