Job Summary

The University of Oklahoma Libraries is seeking a highly skilled Archivist to join our team. As a Processing and Collections Management Archivist, you will be responsible for processing and managing archival collections held by University Libraries Special Research Collections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Appraise, accession, arrange, and describe archival collections in accordance with established professional standards.
  • Oversee care and maintenance of archives, storage, and work areas.
  • Record collections storage information in collections management systems to ensure sound and efficient management of collection assets.
  • Collect, compile, and deliver information and data for statistical and narrative reports.
  • Provide project management and maintain proficiency in all workflows, policies, and systems necessary for arrangement and description of archival collections.
  • Manage intake of archival supplies and supervise the receipt of materials.
  • Identify collections, materials, and individual items in need of preservation treatment and perform preservation applications.
  • Manage access to collections and respond to inquiries regarding collections.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 36 months of related experience in archival arrangement and/or records management.
  • Working knowledge of processes and best practices for the organization and preservation of archival records in multiple formats.
  • Working knowledge of metadata schema used in the description of archival materials (DACS, EAD, other).
  • Project management skills and ability to manage processes and workflows resulting in project completion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience arranging and describing manuscript or archival collections.
  • Able to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in library and information science with an emphasis on archives management.
