About the Position

We are seeking a highly qualified Academic Professional in Museum Studies to join our team at the University of Oklahoma. As a Lecturer of Library and Information Studies, you will play a key role in teaching and mentoring students in our Master of Arts in Museum Studies program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach graduate-level courses in Museum Studies, including Museum Management, Administration, and Leadership, as well as other specializations such as Museum Collection Acquisitions, Cataloging, and Management, Technology for Museum Professionals, Digital Collections, Research Methods for Museum Professionals, Museum Communities and Outreach, Museums and Social Justice, Cultural Sensitivity, and Diverse Communities, and Laws and Legal Issues related to Museums, and Audience Engagement and Programming in Museums.
  • Develop and teach new courses in Museum Studies, as needed.
  • Mentor and advise graduate students in their academic and professional pursuits.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Master of Arts in Museum Studies program.
  • Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work and other assignments.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Museum Studies or a related field, such as Library and Information Science, History, Anthropology, Geology, Fine Arts, or other relevant disciplines.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience and expertise in Museum Studies.
  • Experience teaching graduate students and developing curriculum in Museum Studies.
  • Ability to teach in an online, asynchronous format.
