Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Attorney General to join its Health Services Section. As a key member of the team, you will provide expert legal advice and representation to various agencies within the Health and Human Resources Secretariat.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services in federal litigation, including cases under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Provide advice on interpretation of state and federal law, focusing on health and disability law, confidentiality and privacy laws, and the Virginia Freedom of Information Act.
  • Represent client agencies in state and federal court, with a focus on litigation skills and oral and written communication.
  • Collaborate with attorneys representing the Department of Health Professions, the Department of Health, and the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be a member of the Virginia Bar.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Superior oral and written communication and litigation skills.
  • Five years of state and federal litigation experience preferred.
