Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled cold-heading operator to fulfill a vital role in our production process. This position requires the setup and operation of single and multi-die double stroke cold headers and forge pointers to produce high-quality automotive fasteners from cold metal rod or wire. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting and observing designated Setup Operators during machine operation and setup.
  • Selecting, installing, and aligning dies, cutting tools, guides, and stops to properly configure the machine. Adjusting controls to synchronize machine actions for various operations on the workpiece in a specified order.
  • Loading the coil of metal wire or rod onto the feed spindle and guiding it through straightening rolls into the feed mechanism.
  • Modifying die settings on controls as necessary to produce items within specified tolerances and quality standards.
  • Initiating machine operations and monitoring functions for any signs of malfunction, as well as inspecting products for defects.
  • Performing regular maintenance, lubrication, and cleaning of the machines.
  • Emptying and cleaning oil trays, disposing of scrap, and maintaining cleanliness standards by sweeping the work area.
  • Ensuring all quality and safety documentation is completed under supervision.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's degree is a plus.
  • Previous experience operating single and multi-die header machines is essential.
  • A strong focus on Continuous Improvement is expected.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Capability to compile routine production and quality reports.
  • Able to lift weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Familiarity with safety rules and regulations is crucial.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
