POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the guidance of the Program Manager, the Community Engagement Coordinator oversees, organizes, and directs all tasks and initiatives within the Day Program and community-oriented services.

Ensures adherence to established systems in compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
. Manage daily operations and responsibilities of all direct care and supplementary support personnel engaged in Day Program and community services, including but not limited to gardening projects, music appreciation sessions, community outings, and visits to local establishments to enrich the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, providing meaningful experiences and learning opportunities.

. Design, implement, and provide training for staff in the execution of educational curricula and community engagement activities to ensure that personnel are well-equipped to assist individuals in daily tasks and outings.

. Oversee workflow and monitor support staff in areas such as coaching, training, and task assignment within the framework of Day Program and community-based activities, events, and compliance requirements.

. Facilitate communication between Day and Residential Programs through various channels to ensure consistent service delivery in alignment with individual care plans.

. Deliver direct support services as needed, including leading activities and engaging individuals through diverse communication methods, offering guidance and assistance with daily living needs such as personal hygiene and appropriate attire.

. Create activity schedules based on individual preferences to guarantee both facility and community experiences.

. Provide support during crisis situations, including de-escalation and redirection of individuals exhibiting challenging behaviors, ensuring their health and safety.

. Ensure the completion of required program documentation, including dietary protocols, program notes reflecting observations, and attendance reports, ensuring all documentation is finalized by the end of each program day in accordance with policies and regulations for accurate billing and monitoring of individual progress.

. Assist with the transportation of individuals and staff as necessary.

. Maintain inventory and reach out to the community for potential partnerships to foster relationships between participants and community members.

. Collaborate with documentation specialists to ensure daily notes are submitted.

. In partnership with the Day Program Manager and Day Program Director, assist in ensuring staff compliance with Day Program regulations, policies, and procedures, including mandates from relevant oversight bodies.

. Coordinate visits, tours, and evaluations of Day Programs with various stakeholders in the absence of the Program Manager and/or Program Director, ensuring minimal disruption to programming while meeting audit and compliance requirements.

. Adjust staff schedules as necessary to ensure adequate coverage in both day and residential programs.

. Understand and comply with collective bargaining agreements within a unionized setting, including adherence to scheduling protocols and addressing staff performance issues as needed.

. Maintain current state-mandated training and certifications.

. Adhere to all policies and procedures of Elwyn New Jersey.

. Collaborate with Elwyn New Jersey and relevant state departments during inspections or inquiries.

. Perform CPR, First Aid, safety care crisis intervention, and medication administration following agency protocols.

. Undertake additional duties as assigned.

CONTACTS:
Individuals, Elwyn staff, funding sources, referral sources, licensing agencies, social services agencies, families, primary care providers, county representatives, advocates, and contracted consultants.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
. High School diploma or equivalent

. Supervisory experience preferred

. Two (2) years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

. Knowledge of applicable state program regulations preferred

. Previous experience working within and managing a unionized workforce preferred

. Non-profit human service experience highly preferred

. Must possess a current, valid driver's license in state of residence, with three (3) years of driving experience in the United States and an acceptable driving record.
