Job Description

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Cost Manager to act as the day-to-day interface and help drive large-scale technical commercial developments to achieve an excellent outcome.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost Planning and Estimation: Provide estimate and cost planning to include producing and presenting the final cost plan.
  • Estimation and Analysis: Ability to estimate at conceptual, programming and detailed level.
  • Feasibility Studies and Procurement: Assist on feasibility studies and writing procurement reports.
  • Procurement Management: Perform all aspects of procurement, including managing the pre-qualification stage, produce bid list, bid analysis, produce bid report, and compile contractual documents.
  • Cost Variance and Change Control: Participate effectively with post contract cost variances and the change control processes, where applicable refer major changes to line manager.
  • Cost Checking and Valuation: Manage cost checks and carry out valuations on larger projects, and ensure timely and accurate cost checking, and valuation process.
  • Reporting and Presentations: Produce monthly post contract cost reports and present to client.
  • Value Engineering and Negotiation: Provide input into value engineering; negotiate and approve final accounts.
  • Liaison and Leadership: Maintain liaison with client and other consultants at all project stages. Provide leadership to cost management team, when necessary, ensure the delivery on all of accountabilities.
  • Business Development: Identify opportunities to develop new business with existing clients and report such opportunities to appropriate line manager and utilize marketing database.
  • Process Improvement: Identify improvements for cost management procedures, templates, and products, and refer ideas to appropriate line manager.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years post-graduate experience working on large-scale Commercial Real Estate or relatable large-scale construction projects.
  • Technical Knowledge: Good technical experience in all cost management areas; pre-contract, post contract and final account.
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrate solid presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD Navisworks, and/or other related computer software.
  • Organization and Teamwork: Good organization skills, ability to multi-task, and be a team player.
  • Industry Knowledge: Good knowledge of all methods of construction procurement.
  • Value Management: Experience with advising clients on value management, value engineering, and life cycle costing.
  • Business Development: Experience with key aspects of business development.
  • Industry Sectors: Good knowledge and experience gained within several industry sectors.
Education and Experience:
  • Education: College degree in Engineering, Construction Management with a Technical Focus, Quantity Surveyor, or related technical field.
  • Experience: Experience in commercial and high-tech real estate construction.
  • Electrical Knowledge: Good understanding of all electrical as they relate to construction of projects.
  • Construction Experience: Construction experience with electrical systems a plus.
