Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Janitorial Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation and housekeeping of all facilities, ensuring efficient operations and maintaining housekeeping best practices within budgetary parameters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee members of the janitorial/custodial team and outside contract cleaning services, directing their daily activities to ensure cleanliness and housekeeping of all facilities.
  • Schedule daily cleaning of office and manufacturing areas across multiple shifts and buildings.
  • Supervise preparations, set-ups, and take-downs for special events, coordinating with other departments as needed.
  • Control expenses through waste reduction and comparison shopping on consumable products facility-wide.
  • Provide for service and repair of housekeeping equipment.
  • Effectively communicate all issues/emergencies to the Maintenance and Facilities Director.
  • Participate in the hiring process for new custodians/janitors, making recommendations to the Maintenance and Facilities Director and Human Resources.
  • Identify training needs for the janitorial/custodial staff, train staff, and ensure performance standards are met.
  • Ensure daily cleaning of factory floors, using Tennant floor scrubbing equipment and hand mopping techniques.
  • Manage the daily commute to other facilities to collect and transport generated material scrap and refuse, using our 26' box truck and company-issued vehicles.
  • Organize and maintain rack storage and floor space using fork trucks and pallet jacks, when needed.
  • Coordinate outside pest control services.
  • Oversee the cleanliness of parking lots and grounds, manage snow removal from stairs and walkways, and salt when required.
  • Timely Corrective Action response and resolution to relevant situations.
  • Engage and support company-wide Safety and Cleanliness programs.
  • Coordinate carpet cleaning services or perform in-house using owned steam cleaners and vacuums.
  • Be on call for emergency response situations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience in janitorial/custodial services.
  • High School Graduate.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to lead and effectively delegate to team members.
  • Task-oriented, excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize workload.
  • Enthusiastic attitude, cooperative team player, adaptable to new or changing circumstances, professional demeanor, self-motivated, creative, and innovative.
  • Ability to drive a non-CDL 26' Box truck.
  • Ability to drive Stand Up and Sit-Down fork trucks.
  • Knowledge of and willingness to learn about new mechanical or motorized cleaning equipment.
  • Basic handyman skills for hanging signs, installing paper towel dispensers, soap dispensers, repair of flushing mechanisms, ability to use snakes and other means to unclog toilets, urinals, and other backed-up waste lines.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Must be able to lift 70 lbs.
  • Must be able to sustain physical work for 8+ hours per day, including standing, reaching, pulling, sight, walking through the shop, bending, climbing, and crouching.
  • Office environment is of moderate noise level.
  • Shop noise levels are such that protective ear-coverings are recommended.
  • Grease, oil, and water exposure.
  • Sometimes subject to external weather conditions.
  • Overtime and some weekends required.
