Position Summary:
This role is integral to a team, overseeing the daily operations and cleanliness of all facilities. The individual will ensure efficient facility operations while adhering to housekeeping best practices and budgetary constraints regarding equipment, supplies, and personnel costs. The supervisor will lead a team of custodians and may need to perform custodial tasks when team members are unavailable or as required. While uncommon, this position may involve working irregular hours or rotating shifts to collaborate with team members across different schedules.


Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise the janitorial and custodial team, along with external cleaning contractors, directing their daily tasks to maintain cleanliness across all facilities.

• Organize daily cleaning schedules for office and manufacturing areas across various shifts and locations.

• Manage team members' work schedules to ensure adequate coverage for operational shifts, including approving time and attendance for payroll.

• Oversee preparations and clean-up for special events, coordinating with other departments as necessary.

• Control expenses through waste reduction and competitive sourcing of consumable products across the facilities, serving as the primary contact for ordering supplies.

• Ensure the maintenance and repair of cleaning equipment.

• Communicate effectively with the Maintenance and Facilities Director regarding any issues or emergencies.

• Participate in the recruitment process for new custodians, providing recommendations to the Maintenance and Facilities Director and Human Resources.

• Identify training needs for custodial staff, providing training and ensuring performance standards are upheld.

• Ensure daily cleaning of factory floors using floor scrubbing equipment and hand mopping techniques, and schedule floor stripping and waxing as needed.

• Manage the transportation of material scrap and refuse using company vehicles.

• Organize and maintain storage areas and floor space, utilizing fork trucks and pallet jacks when necessary.

• Assist in evaluating assigned staff, providing significant input to the Facilities Director.

• Coordinate pest control services as needed.

• Ensure the cleanliness of parking lots and grounds, managing snow removal and salting as required.

• Respond promptly to corrective action needs and resolve relevant situations.

• Support company-wide safety and cleanliness initiatives.

• Coordinate carpet cleaning services or perform in-house cleaning using owned equipment.

• Be available for on-call duties during off-hours and weekends for emergency situations.

• Perform additional duties as required.


Qualifications:


• A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in janitorial or custodial services.

• High School diploma or equivalent.

• Proficient in computer usage.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to delegate effectively.

• Highly organized with excellent task management and prioritization skills.

• Positive attitude, collaborative team player, adaptable to changing circumstances, professional demeanor, self-motivated, and innovative.

• Valid driver's license with the ability to operate a non-CDL 26' box truck.

• Experience operating stand-up and sit-down fork trucks.

• Willingness to learn about new mechanical or motorized cleaning equipment, including floor scrubbing and buffing machines.

• Basic handyman skills for minor repairs and installations.

• Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.


Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.

• Capable of performing physical tasks for 8+ hours daily, including:

• Standing

• Reaching and pulling

• Visual acuity

• Walking throughout the facility

• Bending, climbing, and crouching.

• Moderate noise levels in the office environment.

• Shop noise levels may require protective ear coverings.

• Exposure to grease, oil, and water.

• Occasionally subject to external weather conditions.

• Overtime and weekend work may be required.
