About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Deputy Director of Community Services at Careers In Government, Inc. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage a comprehensive recreation program and related activities, while developing and implementing strategic vision for the Recreation Services Division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Department Director in administration of departmental programs
  • Develop and implement strategic vision for the Recreation Services Division
  • Plan, organize, and manage a comprehensive recreational program and related activities
  • Formulate and oversee plans for the conduct of recreation programs
  • Assess community needs and develop and adjust programs and activities accordingly
  • Supervise activities of the Recreation Services Division through subordinate supervisors
  • Participate in the setting of program goals and objectives and evaluate degree to which they are achieved
  • Resolve administrative problems, internal and external, and customer service issues
  • Represent the Community Services Department in meetings and public forums
  • Publicize, promote, and provide information to the media and public on departmental programs
  • Direct the budget process for the Community Services Department
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in recreation, park management, public or business administration
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience managing a variety of recreation programs
  • Class C California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to travel independently within and outside of City limits
