Key Responsibilities:

The Patient Monitoring Coordinator is responsible for a variety of essential tasks that ensure the delivery of safe and effective patient care as directed by nursing staff. This role includes assisting with patient transport, providing support in lifting and transferring patients, and maintaining cleanliness within the patient care unit. Additionally, the coordinator will perform selected diagnostic tests and continuously observe EKG patterns of patients on telemetry, promptly reporting significant findings to the nursing team.

Essential Duties:
  • Deliver direct patient care as instructed by registered nursing staff.
  • Monitor and document vital signs accurately.
  • Assist patients with personal hygiene and physical care requirements.
  • Measure, record, and report intake and output data.
  • Obtain and document daily weight of patients.
  • Conduct blood glucose testing using appropriate equipment.
  • Report any changes in patient status to the nursing staff immediately.
  • Provide companionship to patients when necessary.
  • Support the admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
  • Maintain unit cleanliness and assist with housekeeping tasks.
  • Act as a runner or transporter as needed.
  • Check and document refrigerator temperatures, reporting any discrepancies.
  • Update bed status as assigned.
  • Ensure a safe environment by responding to alarms and call lights, alerting the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain a clean patient environment, perform comfort rounds, and address safety concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members in a professional manner.
  • Serve as a receptionist for the unit, utilizing hospital information systems as needed.
  • Remove saline locks as required.
  • Order and organize floor stock supplies.
  • Perform 12-lead EKGs as permitted by unit protocols.
  • Continuously observe telemetry readings, calibrate equipment, and maintain alarm settings.
  • Identify and report changes in cardiac rhythm or patterns to nursing staff.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations, running continuous EKG strips as necessary.
  • Commit to personal and professional development by completing required training and attending departmental meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Licensure and Certifications: BLS certification required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. Completion of PCA II orientation/training is required, along with demonstrated knowledge in EKG interpretation.

Preferred Qualifications:

One year of direct patient care experience is preferred.
