Quality Assurance Automation Engineer

Contract Position

Overview

As a Quality Assurance Automation Engineer, you will leverage your technical skills to enhance performance, user interface, and web service automation. Collaborating with diverse teams, you will contribute to the development of exceptional technical solutions, ensuring quality through testing within the software development lifecycle. Your role will involve close interaction with Developers, Technical Leads, Project Management, and Quality Assurance Leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance in the automated testing of various applications utilizing BDD and Gherkin test case languages.

• Conduct intricate performance testing of web services and assess from an end-user perspective using industry-standard tools.

• Support SDETs in executing comprehensive automated regression testing with the latest automation technologies.

• Identify and mitigate testing risks while removing obstacles as necessary.

• Employ our technology stack and tool suite, along with open-source technologies, to develop a robust and scalable automation testing framework.

• Collaborate with SDETs to fulfill automated testing objectives aligned with project sprint goals.

• Design, execute, and maintain both manual and automated tests to ensure high code quality in a continuous integration setting.

• Create detailed user stories and tasks for test automation initiatives based on high-level requirements.

• Share responsibility for quality principles and processes within assigned product or scrum teams, and communicate test results, release notes, and troubleshooting guides essential for product support.

• Adhere to standards and actively participate in process improvement initiatives.

• Stay proficient with existing technologies while developing skills in new technologies.

• Lead small teams or projects within the QA organization and mentor junior team members.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience with object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C#, Ruby, etc.
  • 2+ years of experience with relational database concepts, SQL, and procedural languages; object-oriented design; and distributed computing methods.
  • 3+ years of experience with various testing methodologies, including Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior Driven Development (BDD).
  • 8+ years of experience with test automation tools such as Selenium, Web Driver, and others.
  • 2+ years of experience in creating and executing load test scripts using industry-standard tools.
  • 2+ years of experience with Protractor and automation of tests within AngularJS applications.
  • Understanding of SOAP and REST services, including XML and JSON message formats.
  • Proficient in writing automated test scripts to validate data structures and formats.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) automated test execution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Self-organized and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience in designing and developing test frameworks in a greenfield project.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership to QA resources.
  • Experience with Agile testing and development methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in automated REST API testing.
  • Familiarity with isolation, mocking, and integration testing of microservices.
  • Experience with REST API specifications.
  • Experience in cloud environments, particularly AWS.
  • Experience with Selenium WebDriver and multi-browser testing.
  • Familiarity with Agile team tools.
  • Experience with IDEs such as Eclipse or IntelliJ and build tools like Maven or Gradle.
  • Experience in CI/CD environments.
