Position Overview:
The University of Vermont's College of Arts & Sciences is seeking a dedicated full-time, non-tenure track faculty member with extensive professional experience in public media and journalism. This role involves leading the College's collaboration with Vermont Public, a community-supported media organization that delivers radio and television programming.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruct media courses and mentor aspiring journalists, ensuring the cultivation of ethical and courageous storytelling.
  • Act as a liaison between UVM and Vermont Public, facilitating a new partnership that enhances educational opportunities.
  • Oversee the production of media content created by students, ensuring high-quality output.
  • Collaborate with Vermont Public’s editorial team to generate innovative story ideas.
  • Supervise student projects and internships, providing guidance and support throughout their development.
  • Promote the partnership and recruit student interns for practical experiences in media.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A master's degree or higher in journalism or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of professional journalism experience, including roles in writing, editing, and team management within digital and audio media.
  • A proven ability to produce compelling content across various platforms.
  • Proficiency with audio and podcast production equipment and editing software.
  • A comprehensive understanding of utilizing visual and audio journalism, digital video, and social media to enhance storytelling.
  • Insight into the complexities of managing a multifaceted media organization.
