Opportunity Description
The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine within the Department of Medicine at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level. The ideal candidate will possess an independently funded, primarily laboratory-based research program focused on pulmonary biology.
Areas of research interest include, but are not limited to, airway biology, asthma, sepsis and acute lung injury, lung immunity, pulmonary vascular biology, stem cell biology, and lung cancer.
The successful applicant will develop a forward-thinking research agenda that aligns with the ongoing research initiatives at the Larner College of Medicine.
The faculty member will become part of a dynamic research community that includes both basic and clinical scientists within the Larner College of Medicine, with opportunities for collaboration across the University of Vermont campus, and will play a role in the research education of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
The faculty member's research activities will be conducted in newly constructed, state-of-the-art laboratory facilities within the Larner College of Medicine.
Several core research facilities are available at the University of Vermont, including microscopy, flow cytometry and cell sorting, genomics/transcriptomics, proteomics, biostatistics, data science, small animal vivarium, and a BSL3 facility, to support the faculty member's independent research endeavors.
Rank will be determined based on experience (Associate Professor and above); the most competitive candidates will have a well-established independent research program.
The University of Vermont provides a generous start-up package.Faculty responsibilities will be primarily research-focused, with potential teaching opportunities available within the Larner College of Medicine and the University of Vermont.
The preferred candidate will hold a PhD, MD PhD, MD, or an equivalent doctoral degree. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor (Tenure) will be based on years of experience and achievements.Diversity and Inclusion Statement:
