Clinical PACS Administrator

The Clinical PACS Administrator will provide expert support and training to Medical Imaging staff, radiologists, and CAMC physicians, ensuring seamless operation of the PACS system. This role will act as a liaison between the Medical Imaging Department and the IT Department, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Imaging Technology Manager and Radiology IT Team to provide a high-level of PACS support and training to users throughout CAMC.
- Develop and implement effective PACS support models, submitting written recommendations to the Imaging Technology Manager.
- Provide excellent communication to keep all parties informed on the current and future status of the PACS system.
- Act as a resource person for 3D post-processing systems.
- Perform troubleshooting activities, investigate fixes, implement fixes and workarounds to ensure high-level performance of the system.
- Promptly respond to PACS user requests for support throughout CAMC.
- Define, conduct, recommend, and assist in end-user training requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the training of radiologists and be an ongoing resource for PACS and PowerScribe.
- Under supervision, gather and use all available resources to assist radiologists.
- Proactively and regularly perform rounding with CAMC radiologists to provide in-person and remote support.
Downtime Situations
Effectively and efficiently participate in guiding the Imaging Services team members through system downtimes, following preset departmental downtime procedures.
Common Daily Tasks
Merge MRNs in PACS, correct PACS anomalies, share images, review various worklists to ensure exams are interpreted, images are shared, and workflows are completed, and support the QC on the Radiologist workstation monitors.
Image Sharing
Participate hands-on in the image sharing workflow as required, investigate image sharing issues, and train staff from multiple areas on image sharing workflows.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Patient Group Knowledge: The employee must possess/obtain and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment, or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages.
- Competency Statement: Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist.
Education
Credentials
- Amer Registry of Rad Techs (Required): Needs to have been a technologist for 3 years minimum, preferably with CT or MRI experience and PACS experience.
