Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Lead Commodity Buyer to join our Actuation & Accessories purchasing team. This role is crucial for managing dedicated suppliers to secure optimal contractual conditions, pricing, quality, terms, and delivery, while ensuring satisfaction for internal stakeholders. You will oversee the complete supplier relationship, from the Request for Proposal (RFP) stage through to contract award and fulfillment execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of supplier relationships, including bidder list development, RFQ, bid analysis, selection, negotiations, contract award, documentation, purchase order release, and fulfillment.
  • Manage supplier on-time delivery and quality metrics.
  • Monitor delivery status and commitments.
  • Facilitate Material Review Board (MRB) documentation between suppliers and internal teams.
  • Lead supplier recovery planning and execution as necessary.
  • Define, present, and implement supplier strategies to ensure optimal value, including consistent delivery to schedule and quality standards.
  • Negotiate claims and manage special projects as required.
  • Track engineering change activities and lead the detail overlap process with suppliers.
  • Coordinate activities with cross-functional teams, including Planning, Engineering, Quality, Programs, Finance, Legal, and Manufacturing.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Procurement function towards best practices.
  • Advise functional managers on approaches, processes, and procedures within the supply base.
  • Assist in the onboarding and training of new employees.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business with a minimum of 5 years of strategic sourcing experience, including RFPs, supplier selection, and contract negotiations. Alternatively, a high school diploma/GED with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of procurement and subcontract execution, along with manufacturing and purchasing workflows.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in procuring source-controlled hardware such as valves, tubing, ducting, and wiring harnesses.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Experience interfacing with executive leadership.
  • Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (preferably SAP) and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Experience in the aerospace industry.
