Role Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable Lead Commodity Buyer to join our Actuation & Accessories procurement team. This role involves managing supplier relationships to secure optimal contractual terms, pricing, quality, and delivery schedules while ensuring satisfaction for internal stakeholders. You will oversee the complete supplier engagement process, from the initial request for proposals to contract execution and fulfillment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of supplier relationships, including bidder list creation, request for quotation (RFQ), bid evaluation, selection, negotiation, contract award, and purchase order issuance.
  • Monitor supplier on-time delivery and quality performance metrics.
  • Ensure timely communication of delivery statuses and commitments.
  • Facilitate material review board (MRB) documentation between suppliers and internal teams.
  • Lead recovery planning and execution efforts with suppliers as needed.
  • Develop and implement supplier strategies to achieve the best overall value, ensuring adherence to schedules and quality standards.
  • Negotiate claims and manage special projects as required.
  • Track engineering changes and coordinate with suppliers to manage overlaps.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Planning, Engineering, Quality, Programs, Finance, Legal, and Manufacturing.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of procurement practices towards industry best standards.
  • Provide guidance to functional managers on supply base strategies, processes, and procedures.
  • Support the onboarding and training of new team members.

Basic Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business with at least 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, including RFPs, supplier selection, and contract management. Alternatively, a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with procurement processes, subcontract execution, and manufacturing workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in sourcing controlled hardware such as valves, tubing, ducting, and wiring harnesses.
  • Adept at thriving in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a capacity for independent work.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Experience working with executive leadership.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably SAP, and supplier relationship management tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Experience in the aerospace sector.
