Shift Details: Rotating shift schedule - 3 days on, 2 days off, followed by 2 days on, then it rotates.

Work Schedule: 12-hour shifts from 6 PM to 6 AM.

Job Purpose

The Quality Team Lead plays a crucial role in supporting the Quality Assurance Department. This position requires expertise in screening raw milk and testing raw, in-process, and finished products. Responsibilities include conducting plant inspections to ensure sanitation and compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). The Team Lead will also assist in coordinating daily collaboration between departments, generating shift reports, and supporting data entry and KPI reporting as necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and guide laboratory technicians in their daily tasks and special projects, ensuring the completion of the master sanitation schedule.
  • Monitor team efficiencies and collaborate with QA management to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Operate laboratory testing instruments accurately, including moisture, protein, and fat analyzers, microscopes, and other necessary equipment.
  • Conduct daily quality audits and evaluations on the production floor as required.
  • Assist in investigations as directed by the QA supervisor or manager.
  • Accurately complete laboratory data worksheets and logs, ensuring proper data entry.
  • Enforce quality programs to minimize off-spec products and financial losses.
  • Maintain adequate supplies for job functions and assist in inventory management.
  • Ensure confidentiality of results and reports in accordance with company policies.
  • Communicate results promptly and professionally to relevant personnel.
  • Report any unusual results or product defects to the Quality Assurance Manager and appropriate supervisors.
  • Adhere to all safety and GMP regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Dairy Science, Food Science, Management, or a related field is required; 2-3 years of laboratory experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced computational and mathematical reasoning skills are essential.
  • Proficient in operating laboratory instrumentation.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including off-hours.
  • Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
Food Safety Responsibilities
  • Notify supervisors of any necessary repairs or adjustments affecting product quality or safety.
  • Comply with color-coded container policies in production areas.
  • Initiate actions to prevent nonconformities related to food safety and quality.
  • Document any issues regarding food safety and quality.
  • Control the processing of nonconforming products until issues are resolved.
  • In the event of absence, ensure responsibilities are covered by qualified personnel.
