Shift Details: Rotating shift schedule - 3 days on, 2 days off, followed by 2 days on, rotating thereafter.

Schedule: 12-hour shifts from 6 PM to 6 AM.

Job Purpose

The Quality Team Lead plays a crucial role in supporting the Quality Assurance Department. This position requires expertise in screening raw milk and testing raw, in-process, and finished products. Responsibilities include conducting plant inspections to ensure sanitation and compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). The Team Lead will also oversee sanitation inspections, environmental monitoring, and testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and guide laboratory technicians in daily tasks and special projects, ensuring completion of the master sanitation schedule.
  • Evaluate technician performance and assist management in enhancing task efficiencies.
  • Operate laboratory testing instruments accurately, including moisture, protein, and fat analyzers, microscopes, and pH meters.
  • Conduct daily quality audits and evaluations on the production floor as necessary.
  • Assist in investigations as directed by QA supervisors or managers.
  • Accurately complete laboratory data worksheets and logs, ensuring proper use of data entry spreadsheets.
  • Enforce quality programs to minimize off-spec products and financial losses.
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels of laboratory supplies and assist in inventory management.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all results and reports in accordance with company policies.
  • Utilize computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office, Word, and Excel.
  • Communicate results to relevant personnel in a timely and professional manner.
  • Alert the Quality Assurance Manager and operations supervisors of any unusual results or product defects.
  • Report any damage or unsafe conditions related to plant equipment or laboratory instruments.
  • Adhere to all safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Dairy Science, Food Science, Management, or a related field is required; 2-3 years of laboratory experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced computational and mathematical reasoning skills are essential.
  • Ability to effectively operate laboratory instrumentation.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including off-hours.
  • Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Food Safety Responsibilities
  • Notify supervisors of necessary repairs or adjustments affecting product quality or safety.
  • Comply with color-coded container policies in production areas.
  • Take proactive measures to prevent nonconformities related to food safety and quality.
  • Document any issues concerning food safety and quality.
  • Control the processing or delivery of nonconforming products until issues are resolved.
  • In the event of absence, ensure responsibilities are covered by qualified personnel.
