Key Responsibilities:

Facilitates health assessments and treatments by collecting relevant health information, obtaining specimens, conducting tests, and documenting patient care effectively.

Updates patient health records during visits, accurately noting any medication adjustments and allergy updates at each appointment.
Observes and reports changes in patient conditions. Administers prescribed medications under the supervision of healthcare providers.
Ensures the availability and maintenance of medical equipment and supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting as necessary.
Maintains cleanliness and organization of examination areas.
Participates in pre-visit preparations by updating health maintenance information.
Performs various administrative tasks as assigned, including filing, reception duties, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
Other responsibilities as assigned.

Educational Requirements:
Must have graduated from an accredited Medical Assisting Program.

(As designated by the Enterprise MA Steering Committee) Military training as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W), or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be taken into account.

Current completion of a clinical externship is required. (Extensive clinical experience may be considered in lieu of formal clinical externship). MA Certification is preferred.

Certifications:

Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) is mandatory upon hiring.


Work Complexity:
Requires critical thinking abilities, sound judgment, and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
Must be capable of functioning in a high-pressure environment and taking appropriate actions as needed.

Experience:
Successful completion of a Clinical Externship is preferred.

Physical Demands:
Manual dexterity is necessary for operating office equipment.
May require prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting.
Good visual acuity is required, either through normal or corrected vision.
Light Work
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
Even if the weight lifted may be minimal, a job should be rated as Light Work:
(1) when it requires significant walking or standing; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace that involves constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.

Note:
The ongoing stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in a healthcare setting, can be physically demanding for a worker even if the amount of force exerted is minimal.

Adheres to standard precautions by utilizing personal protective equipment as required.
