Position Overview - Chief Financial Officer - Southwest Pacific Region

D.R. Horton, Inc. is actively seeking a Chief Financial Officer for the Southwest Pacific Region. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities across the divisions within the region.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating with the Region President to foster a culture of excellence in financial and operational performance across all divisions, emphasizing strong controls, open communication, and transparency.
  • Building a robust team of Division CFOs and Controllers, ensuring that each division's accounting team comprehends and consistently applies the company's accounting policies.
  • Participating in all key personnel decisions related to hiring, promotions, and terminations for top accounting roles in each division.
  • Attending closing meetings with Internal Audit and division management post-audit, ensuring that all necessary follow-up actions are completed based on audit recommendations.
  • Engaging in the corporate management of the accounting and finance functions alongside the Corporate CFO and Corporate Controllers.
  • Providing support to divisions on corporate matters including Accounting, HR, IT, Legal, and Risk Management.
  • Assisting divisions and the Region President in formulating and maintaining both short-term and long-term business strategies and forecasts.
  • Ensuring that divisions uphold strong internal controls and efficient processes across all operational areas.
  • Facilitating the exchange of best practices among divisions and training them on enhancing performance metrics such as gross profit, SG&A, ROI, and inventory turnover.
  • Monitoring division sales, backlog, and closings against budget and previous years, collaborating with divisions to achieve performance targets.
  • Assisting the Region President in managing the capital allocation process within corporate inventory limits, tracking actual and projected land fundings against division and regional objectives.
  • Reviewing and assessing GPAs for proposed land/lot acquisitions, ensuring conservative and realistic projections.
  • Participating in discussions regarding land/lot deal structures to maximize capital returns and ensure proper accounting treatment.
  • Conducting all business activities with professionalism and integrity to enhance customer satisfaction and the company's reputation.
  • Willingness to travel overnight as required.
  • With assistance from the division's Corporate Accounting Manager, closely monitoring division gross margins and SG&A against budget and prior year figures, and advising divisions on performance improvement strategies.
  • With support from the Division's Corporate Accounting Manager, overseeing division home inventory levels, including specifications, models, and homes under construction, ensuring optimal inventory management.
  • Preparing financial analyses for the Region President and assisting in regional management as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Eight to ten years of relevant experience and/or training.
  • Ability to understand and execute instructions provided in written or oral form.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and email applications.
  • Capability to sit for the majority of an 8-hour workday; use hands for various tasks; reach with hands and arms; communicate effectively.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.
