Job Overview

The Executive Vice President of Finance will be responsible for managing all financial and accounting functions for corporate operations and managed communities. This position will lead and supervise all financial reporting and compliance activities. The role is essential in driving financial planning and analysis to effectively manage the business and forecast future growth. This executive will ensure the financial health of the organization, collaborating closely with other senior leaders to devise, implement, and assess financial strategies that contribute to the company's success.

Core Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy and Budget Management:

  • Formulate and execute financial strategies that align with the Company’s objectives for corporate operations and meet client expectations for managed communities.
  • Oversee the corporate budgeting process, forecasting, and cost management in line with the strategic plan.
  • Supervise budgetary planning, forecasting, and cost management for all managed communities, ensuring alignment with client expectations.
  • Evaluate the financial performance of the management company and managed communities, identifying risks and opportunities.

Financial Operations:

  • Direct and oversee all financial and accounting operations at both corporate and managed community levels, including budgeting, forecasting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS) and all regulatory requirements for financial reporting.
  • Establish and maintain internal control systems to protect the financial assets of the organization and managed communities.
  • Manage tax obligations, filings, compliance, and processes in collaboration with internal legal and risk management teams.
  • Guarantee timely and accurate tax payments for managed communities.
  • Oversee treasury functions and policies at the corporate level, ensuring compliance with client treasury policies for managed communities.
  • Lead initiatives for process improvements and efficiencies to achieve timely and accurate financial reporting.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Supervise the preparation and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for both corporate and managed communities.
  • Analyze financial outcomes, providing insights and recommendations to senior management and external client management.
  • Present financial reports to ownership, executive leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment of accounting systems across all platforms.

3rd Party Partnership and Oversight:

  • Coordinate financial planning, accounting, and reporting functions between the Company and all third-party partners.
  • Oversee financial reporting systems and processes for corporate and managed communities.
  • Ensure compliance with all managed community debt covenants and reporting requirements.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team.
  • Foster a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure efficient and effective operations within the finance and accounting team.

Corporate Development:

  • Contribute to corporate policy development as a member of the senior management team.
  • Engage with external partners, including auditors, banks, and financial institutions.
  • Lead financial due diligence and integration efforts for mergers, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives.

Risk Management:

  • Identify, assess, and manage financial risks for the property management company and managed communities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate financial risks at both corporate and managed community levels.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
  • Extensive knowledge of corporate finance, accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prior experience in the asset/property management sector.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven experience with financial software and systems, including Yardi, Excel (highly proficient), BI tools, and Outlook.
