Bethany is dedicated to transforming lives through family support. With over 75 years of experience, we have evolved from serving a single child to becoming a global Christian nonprofit organization. Our mission encompasses strengthening families, aiding displaced individuals seeking safety, and connecting children in need with loving families. We are committed to addressing the increasing demands of vulnerable children and families both domestically and internationally.
As a Case Manager for Unaccompanied Children (UC) in our Transitional Foster Care program, your primary role will involve delivering casework and support services to children in foster care, as well as to their foster and biological families.
This position requires the ability to operate effectively with moderate supervision while adhering to established procedures and complying with agency, federal, and state regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct trauma-informed initial intake assessments within 24 hours of a child's arrival, ensuring they feel secure and well-informed about the agency and their foster home;
- Swiftly coordinate communication with youth sponsors upon arrival, ensuring all necessary documentation, such as the Family Reunification Packet (FRP), is obtained;
- Work collaboratively with consulates or equivalent resources to identify sponsors for youth when unknown at the time of arrival;
- Utilize a trauma-informed approach to complete the FRP promptly, facilitating the safe release of youth;
- Ensure all assigned youth receive essential services while in care, including mental health, medical, recreational, educational, and other supportive services, in accordance with program timelines;
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on foster children in care, ensuring compliance with ORR and Bethany's internal documentation practices;
- Lead the treatment team in collaboration with the youth's therapist;
- Participate actively in weekly staff meetings with the treatment team and stakeholders;
- Facilitate ongoing education and support services for foster parents;
- Meet weekly with your supervisor to discuss cases, review case plans, and evaluate client progress;
- Co-lead educational group sessions with educational staff;
- Assist the licensing team in ensuring foster families are adequately trained to support UC's;
- Schedule monthly meetings with foster parents and children to address any service delivery concerns;
- Provide translation for written and verbal communications for program clients and staff, if bilingual;
- Maintain effective communication with community agencies involved in service provision;
- Engage in internal and external training, applying new knowledge to service delivery;
- Prepare for and attend required court hearings (if applicable);
- Transport clients as needed;
- Stay informed about community resources and refer families for additional support;
- Remain knowledgeable about agency, federal, and state regulations related to social services;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Sciences, Human Services, or a related Social Services field from an accredited institution;
- Experience in child welfare and/or case management is highly preferred;
- Comprehensive understanding of social work principles and methodologies as acquired through a Bachelor's degree;
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, with prior experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations preferred;
- Demonstrated maturity, sound judgment, and cultural sensitivity, particularly regarding the unique histories of refugees;
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills;
- Proven clinical, therapeutic, and crisis intervention capabilities;
- Ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality;
- Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
- Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver's license and a minimum of 3 years driving experience in the US to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany. A Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check will be conducted, and reliable transportation with proof of insurance is required;
- Successful completion of a criminal history screening, including checks with state and local child protection agency registries;
