This role involves conducting repair and maintenance tasks on diesel-powered heavy machinery utilized in civil construction, as well as non-diesel equipment and trucks.

Examples of heavy construction machinery include, but are not limited to, Excavators, Dozers, Scrapers, Graders, and Wheel Loaders. Heavy Trucks encompass, but are not limited to, Dump Trucks, Lowboy Trailers, Fuel/Lube Trucks, and various off-road vehicles.


Position Type and Work Schedule:

This is a skilled non-exempt role. Typical working days are Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., totaling 40 hours per week, with the possibility of overtime. This position may require extended hours and occasional weekend work.


Travel Requirements:

Travel is primarily local during business hours, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be necessary.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose malfunctions using various electronic diagnostic tools.
  • Complete relevant company training programs.
  • Maintain a solid understanding and proficiency in areas such as Suspensions and Steering, General Engine, Transmissions, Brakes, Electrical Systems, Hydraulics, and Drive Train.
  • Perform non-routine repair and maintenance tasks, both on-site and in the field.
  • Install, maintain, and repair systems including Heating and Air Conditioning, Suspension, Drivetrain, Steering, Diesel and Gasoline Engines, Electrical Systems, and Braking Systems.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve common goals, contributing positively to team dynamics.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment as required.
  • Adhere to company quality standards and procedures.
  • Inspect and prepare equipment for safe operation at the start of each workday.
  • Complete necessary documentation accurately.
  • Communicate proactively and diplomatically with supervisors, colleagues, and clients regarding equipment and job-related issues.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Foreman.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • At least one year of experience in a technician role, demonstrating knowledge of both gasoline and diesel-powered machinery.
  • A valid driver's license is preferred.
  • Dependable and punctual with work schedules.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to climb in and out of equipment without assistance.
  • Use hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment controls.
  • Reach with arms to access tools and equipment controls.
  • Ability to stand, talk, and hear in demanding work environments.
  • Good peripheral vision with the ability to adjust and focus.
  • Maintain physical fitness suitable for the performance of assigned duties.
