We are in search of a Construction Project Leader who will oversee a team of subcontractors and Eleven Western Builders (EWB) personnel throughout the lifecycle of a project, ensuring meticulous execution, comprehensive documentation, and adherence to schedules and budgets.

YOU EMBODY A LEADERSHIP SPIRIT, guiding by example, showcasing strategic thinking, and articulating expectations clearly. You swiftly and effectively resolve challenges, delivering projects that are “clean and tight.” You excel in fostering relationships and maintain focus amidst diverse personalities in high-pressure environments.

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for steering your team towards producing top-notch craftsmanship. You can foresee the need for meetings and inspections, ensuring projects are completed on time and to specifications. You demonstrate a high level of follow-through and delegate tasks appropriately to guarantee nothing is overlooked.

YOU POSSESS EXCEPTIONAL ORGANIZATIONAL AND ANALYTICAL ABILITIES to manage deadlines in a fast-paced setting with competing priorities while respecting the client's environment. You navigate complex decision-making processes necessary for project completion while remaining compliant with regulations. You prioritize safety and maintain an accident-free worksite.

CONSTRUCTION PROJECT LEADER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

In the initial 30 days and beyond:

  • Complete the onboarding program within the first week, which includes essential safety training, equipment certification, CPR, and OSHA training if not previously completed.
  • Provide valuable insights regarding project specifications.
  • Utilize ProCore software to document progress and send daily updates to the Project Team.
  • Review project plans at least twice daily and inspect job progress during site visits to guide work and coordinate with subcontractors.
  • Conduct daily meetings with retail clients, EWB construction team, and inspectors.
  • Oversee all site construction activities and supervise field personnel (up to 140 daily).

By the 90-day milestone and ongoing:

  • Successfully manage a project exceeding $5 million by delivering it on schedule and within budget.
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and quality, ensuring finished products are ready for client inspection and compliant with regulations.
  • Hold subcontractors accountable for adhering to general safety protocols.
  • Create, submit, and track RFIs and responses to identify the scope of change orders, which may vary based on project size and complexity.

By the 6-month mark and ongoing:

  • Exhibit integrity, compassion, and empathy when interacting with clients, reflecting the culture at EWB, and fostering a strong work ethic within the team.
  • Demonstrate the ability to seamlessly step into an ongoing project and competently fulfill the Superintendent's responsibilities with a new team and in various specialty areas (retail, hospitality, fast-food, fuel stations, open store remodels, etc.).
  • Deliver a “clean and tight” project on time, maintaining schedules with minimal loose ends at completion (fewer than 2).

CONSTRUCTION PROJECT LEADER EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Superintendent role required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in building/remodeling within the following sectors: retail, hospitality, fuel stations, open store remodels, fast food; relevant experience within the last 5 years is required.
  • Proficient in mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, calculating square footage, and material take-offs.
  • Capable of reading construction documents and knowledgeable about construction methodologies.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Microsoft Project, Word).
  • Intermediate proficiency with ProCore is advantageous.
  • Possession of a valid CA Driver's License, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation is mandatory, along with passing a background check.
  • Current OSHA 10 and CPR certification is a plus.
  • Proven track record of working safely and adhering to safety standards.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to job sites and stay overnight as required.
  • Capable of performing general physical tasks such as lifting items up to 50 pounds, kneeling, bending, standing, climbing, repetitive motion, and using hand tools.
