Position Overview

The IT Support Specialist is tasked with overseeing all technical services within the RSC, collaborating closely with our Managed Service Provider (MSP) team. This role primarily focuses on managing escalated ticket volumes from Level 1 support, facilitating the onboarding and offboarding of team members for essential IT tasks, conducting desk visits to resolve hardware issues, and providing troubleshooting assistance to remote team members as needed. Additionally, this position is responsible for deploying technology to RSC team members and integrating new technology as existing products are phased out. This role is vital for ensuring the stability of IT Services within the RSC and for senior decision-makers across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, test, and deploy software applications and security updates to production environments using Microsoft SCCM or other deployment tools.
  • Manage the onboarding and offboarding processes for team members, including desk visits, hardware troubleshooting, and training on IT functions through PeopleWorks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated hardware or software incidents/requests from team members.
  • Document workflow deficiencies and propose process improvements.
  • Provide written documentation of problems and incidents via the Service Now ticketing system.
  • Resolve advanced PC issues, including software incompatibilities and registry settings adjustments.
  • Build and test desktop images while creating related support and staging documentation.
  • Provide dedicated PC support for specific departments and special projects as required.
  • Administer a mixed-platform client system environment (Mac OS X, Windows).
  • Communicate daily with cross-functional teams within IT and across the business.
  • Perform application patching for desktop/laptop/tablet software using SCCM or other appropriate tools.
  • Assist in determining hardware technology stacks and managing audio/visual products in the office.
  • Support and maintain VDI infrastructure, troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Ensure thorough testing of desktop packages prior to deployment.
  • Act as a backup for Level 1 support when required.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical skills and experience in complex Desktop infrastructure projects.
  • Proficient in PowerShell for automating operations for support teams.
  • Familiarity with security technologies and strategies, including web and email content filtering and patch management.
  • Experience with infrastructure and application architectures, particularly VDI and MDM.
  • Working knowledge of O365, Skype for Business, and OneDrive.
  • Understanding of MDM technologies for managing corporate devices.
  • Experience in engineering EUC technologies and managing Desktop, Mobile, and Application infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of BYOD strategies and ensuring corporate data security.
  • Expertise in Active Directory management.
  • Experience with Group Policy Objects (GPO).
  • Ability to automate manual tasks and improve efficiencies.
  • Experience in translating technical architectures into clear designs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
  • Comfortable navigating Windows operating systems and supporting various applications.
