About the Role

Battelle is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our Critical Infrastructure Business Line. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing sensor and surveillance systems for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and analyze sensor and surveillance system requirements, including seismic and IR ground sensors and remote airborne sensing.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data to identify innovative solutions.
  • Prepare and present advanced technical reports and presentations to clients.
  • Conduct and lead technical projects, providing technical direction to engineers and technical support staff.
  • Review project progress and evaluate results, recommending modifications and corrections as needed.
  • Prepare technical sections of proposals and manage proposals or major sections of large proposals.
  • Build relationships with internal and external clients, preparing and presenting final reports to clients and stakeholders.
  • Support business development efforts, maintaining business interactions with external clients.
  • Contribute to marketing and project development, providing technical expertise and executing responsibilities in client relations.
  • Participate in scientific conferences, peer review panels, and increase company visibility through publications.
  • Train lower-level staff to improve technical development, coordinating and providing day-to-day work direction to lower-level staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 12 years of experience or master's degree in a related field with 10 years of experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with customer interaction and presentation capabilities.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience required of Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • Dedication to achieving the mission of the customer, with high standards of quality and excellence in performing individual duties.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing work to balance multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively alone or within a group.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
  • Eligibility and willingness to obtain a Secret clearance and DHS suitability.
  • Must be a US citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Active DHS or CBP suitability.
  • Experience with DHS clients, systems, and screening processes.
  • Experience with ground and airborne sensor networks and associated information displays.
