Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team at the Department of the Navy. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the development and production of the AN/BYG-1 Submarine Combat system for all variants of US submarines and the RAN Collins Class submarine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a combined industry and government team in the development of the AN/BYG-1 subsystems which comprise the AN/BYG-1 Combat System and for the production, integration and testing of those subsystems.
  • Coordinate with the other Participating Acquisition Resource Managers (PARMs) in the Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems (SWFTS) program to ensure all software deliveries and testing are synchronized.
  • Coordinate with both SWFTS and the TIH technology team to ensure software production and delivery schedules are aligned with Fleet Modernization timelines to support on-time delivery to the warfighter.
  • Perform key decision-making and policy-developing responsibilities in support of program leadership.
  • Plan, develop, evaluate, and execute short- and long-range technical programs.
  • Establish work assignments to be accomplished by the employees.
  • Set priorities, prepare schedules for work completion, and ensure the timely performance of satisfactory work efforts.
  • Evaluate employee performance and recommend appropriate incentives.
  • Serve as a recognized expert consultant and authority to ensure reliability and accuracy in the identification, development and implementation of recommended solutions to highly complex problems.

Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Must be able to travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.

Qualifications:

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NH-03 (GS-13 Equivalent), in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer providing engineering guidance in the design, development, modernization, or sustainment of combat or weapon systems for surface ships or submarines to ensure compliance with established specifications or requirements.
  • Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
  • Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
  • Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico.
