Position Summary

This role is designed for a PRN position, where the individual will provide support across various clinics in the region. The primary focus is on delivering outpatient orthopedic and sports physical therapy services, particularly to a pediatric demographic ranging from school-aged children to young adults.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to independently manage the entire spectrum of professional services, including patient access, coding, and billing in accordance with legal and ethical standards as well as hospital policies. Responsibilities include conducting evaluations, creating program plans, and implementing treatment strategies utilizing various modalities such as exercise, neuromuscular re-education, joint and soft tissue mobilization, taping, electrical stimulation, and thermal therapies tailored to the patient's age, athletic involvement, and developmental level.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct evaluations and provide treatment for a diverse range of sports injuries and orthopedic conditions, including but not limited to musculoskeletal injuries, overuse syndromes, neurological conditions, and trauma. The therapist should apply evidence-based practices that are age and sport-appropriate throughout the care process.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of typical development in relation to athletic activities, whether competitive or recreational, and utilize behavior management strategies that are suitable for pediatric patients.
  3. Develop treatment plans with specific, measurable goals and timeframes, ensuring collaboration with the patient's family or guardian.
  4. Implement treatment plans using prescribed modalities, which may include recommendations for dynamic bracing or orthotics to enhance functionality.
  5. Educate patients and families on strategies to maximize function and facilitate a return to activity or sport, including the development of home exercise programs.
  6. Ensure compliance with documentation standards set by regulatory bodies and participate in quality management initiatives.
  7. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the organization and community resources to optimize care delivery and participate in discharge planning and educational initiatives.
  8. Foster positive relationships within the department and the broader community, engaging professionally with physicians, families, and other healthcare personnel.
  9. Supervise and mentor rehabilitation technicians and students, contributing to their performance evaluations.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned.
