Position SummaryThis role focuses on delivering outpatient orthopedic and sports rehabilitation services primarily to a pediatric demographic, ranging from school-aged children to young adults. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to independently manage a comprehensive array of professional services, from patient intake to accurate coding and billing practices in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct evaluations and provide treatment for patients with various sports-related injuries and orthopedic conditions, including but not limited to musculoskeletal injuries, overuse syndromes, neurological impairments, and trauma. The therapist should apply evidence-based practices tailored to the patient's age and athletic involvement.
- Demonstrate knowledge of developmental milestones in relation to athletic participation, whether in competitive or recreational settings.
- Utilize behavior management strategies that are appropriate for pediatric patients and align therapeutic interventions with the child's age and abilities, all within a family-centered care framework.
- Develop treatment plans with clear, measurable goals and timelines, ensuring mutual agreement through discussions with the patient and their family.
- Implement the prescribed plan of care utilizing various treatment modalities, including exercise, neuromuscular re-education, joint and soft tissue mobilization, taping, electrical stimulation, and thermal therapies. Recommendations for dynamic bracing or orthotics may also be included to enhance functionality.
- Educate patients and their families on strategies to maximize function and facilitate a return to activity or sport, including the implementation of home exercise programs.
- Ensure compliance with documentation standards set forth by regulatory bodies and organizational policies, including participation in quality management initiatives.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the hospital and community resources to optimize the effectiveness of the care plan. Participate in discharge planning, care conferences, and patient education sessions.
- Foster positive relationships within the department and the broader community, engaging professionally with physicians, families, and other healthcare personnel. Involvement in training programs and supervision of rehabilitation technicians or students is also expected.
