Role Summary
This role is designed for a PRN professional who will provide coverage across various clinics. The focus is on delivering outpatient orthopedic and sports rehabilitation services to a pediatric demographic, ranging from school-aged children to young adults. The ideal candidate will be skilled in managing the full spectrum of services, from patient intake to coding and billing in accordance with ethical and legal standards. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions tailored to the patient's age, athletic involvement, and functional capabilities. A strong understanding of billing and coding practices relevant to outpatient services is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and treat patients with diverse sports-related injuries and orthopedic conditions, including but not limited to: musculoskeletal injuries, overuse syndromes, neurological issues, and trauma. Utilize evidence-based practices that are age and sport-specific in all care aspects, including:
- Knowledge of developmental milestones as they pertain to athletic engagement, whether competitive or recreational.
- Application of behavior management techniques appropriate for pediatric and athletic activities, ensuring interventions align with the child's age and abilities, within a family-centered care framework.
- Formulation of treatment strategies with clear, measurable objectives and timelines, ensuring agreement with the family or guardian.
- Execution of the treatment plan utilizing modalities such as exercise, neuromuscular re-education, joint and soft tissue mobilization, taping, electrical stimulation, and thermal therapies as prescribed.
- Educate patients and families on maximizing function and returning to activity or sport, including the implementation of home exercise programs.
- Deliver care in accordance with the Standards of Care as outlined by the APTA and relevant policies.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation in compliance with regulatory standards and participate in quality management initiatives.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the hospital and community resources to enhance the effectiveness of care plans. Engage in discharge planning, care discussions, and patient education.
- Foster positive relationships within the department and the broader community, interacting professionally with physicians, families, and healthcare personnel. Involvement in training programs and supervision of rehabilitation technicians or students is expected.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
